About the Apache Blackberry: |
|
Most would not think of using a blackberry as a shrub for screening food plots but this plant is fantastic and just short of unbelievable, grows 8' in one year and retains it's leaves through the winter. Whitetails love to eat blackberries from thornless plants, making this a great border shrub or cover plant with food no less! Fruits are twice as large as some other erect blackberry cultivars and thornless, weighing 9.5 grams each, on average. If youre not impressed yet this plant suckers to produce new plants that can be moved to other locations or allowed to form dense thickets. Technically, this is not a shrub but when asked, "what is my favorite shrub" I would include Apache blackberry on my short list favorites!
